The Australian and New Zealand Children’s Haematology and Oncology Group will, in 2010, celebrate its 24th anniversary with an outstanding Annual Scientific Meeting which will run from 31 August–3 September in Sydney, NSW. Australia.
The Local Organising Committee takes the greatest of pleasures in extending an invitation to you to attend and participate in a meeting that will showcase and promote excellence in the fields of paediatric haematology and oncology across a broad range of disciplines. The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce AC, has generously accepted our invitation to open the conference. We are deeply grateful for Ms Bryce’s support, which further highlights the importance of our efforts in caring for young people with cancer.
The Oncology Department at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead has the honour of hosting the ASM which will be held at Sheraton on the Park, Sydney which overlooks the magnificent Hyde Park.
The ANZCHOG 2010 ASM will this year be preceded by a satellite symposium on Long Term Survivors of Childhood Cancer. The symposium will be funded by the NSW Cancer Institute and represents the efforts of the Child and Adolescent specialty subgroup of the Cancer Institute. Both the ASM and this special symposium will incorporate valuable educational sessions. The ASM will include advances in both the management of lymphoma and of coagulation disorders. There will also be a focus on Symptom Management – an inherent and vital component of the work in which we undertake with children and adolescents and their families. The ASM meeting will consist of both multidisciplinary and discipline specific days. The abstract presentation sessions will cover a broad range of relevant topics highlighting clinical and research activities within the Group. In providing this mixture of activities, we offer a unique opportunity for interaction and for developing collaborative research initiatives.
So please take advantage of this superb opportunity to meet with colleagues at a fabulous venue in a wonderful city. We look forward to seeing you here in September 2010. This ANZCHOG Scientific Meeting promises to be a memorable and successful one from both professional and personal perspectives.
